Description

Former Special Forces Officer and New York Times bestselling author Brad Taylor delivers a heart-pounding thriller featuring Taskforce operators Pike Logan and Jennifer Cahill as they come face to face with a conspiracy where nothing is as it seems.

Hot on the trail of a North Korean looking to sell sensitive US intelligence to the Syrian regime, Pike Logan and the Taskforce stumble upon something much graver: the sale of a lethal substance called Red Mercury.

Unbeknownst to the Taskforce, the Syrians plan to use the weapon of mass destruction against American and Kurdish forces, and blame the attack on terrorists, causing western nations to reassess their participation in the murky cauldron of the Syrian civil war.

Meanwhile, North Korea has its own devastating agenda: a double-cross that will dwarf the attack in Syria even as it lays the blame on the Syrian government. Leveraging Switzerland's fame for secrecy and its vast network of military bunkers, now repurposed by private investors for the clandestine storage of wealth, North Korea will use Red Mercury to devastate the West's ability to deliver further sanctions against the rogue regime.

As the Taskforce begins to unravel the plot, a young refugee unwittingly holds the key to the conspiracy. Hunted across Europe for reasons she cannot fathom, she is the one person who can stop the attack--if she can live long enough for Pike and Jennifer to find her.

Great story and the addition of Amena is a pure 100% winner. I sure hope we see Amena again! Fantastic book!

Not bad, but really stretching reality with the contributions of young girl…and what did Pres say to Palmer?
  • Surprisingly boring

Hardly any action. Dull, lifeless, too much filler. It was disappointing because the other Brad Taylor book I had read was pretty good.

I liked it. The little girl part is a stretch but I enjoyed the story and I’m a sap that likes happy endings so even the girl part worked for me.

This will probably be the last Brad Taylor book I read. I have read all of his books and really loved most of them but I don’t like the direction he is moving with his characters. He is putting to much of the bad guy POV and barely any task force members POV besides Pike. I don’t mind the bad guys POV but it seems his last few books are more than 60% bad and the rest just Pike. Isn’t Jennifer a main character? She didn’t have a single POV in this book. In his last book, I was led to believe that they might be having issues regarding their long term relationship. So what happened with that. Everything was super rosy between them in this book. The whole plot with the girl was hard to digest as well and are we now expected to believe that they r going to take home a 13 ur old girl and make her their kid? How is that possible and what would they do with her when duty calls since they both are on the team. I also don’t like the fact that he is changing Jen’s personality. She seems to girly now. Crying over things, agreeing with PIke on everything. It’s too perfect now instead of having to work at it. He also has stopped giving the small details that really help set things in a readers mind. Descriptions of what they r wearing, what they do with n down time, and the interactions with each other seem forced funny instead of natural. Overall I did not like it.
  • Another great read

Utter garbage. Would have been better if the plot was created by Koko the gorilla.
