INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER

From master of suspense Lisa Unger comes a riveting thriller about a chance encounter that unravels a stunning web of lies.

Selena Murphy is commuting home on the train when she strikes up a conversation with a beautiful stranger in the next seat. The woman introduces herself as Martha and soon confesses that she’s been stuck in an affair with her boss. Selena, in turn, confesses that she suspects her husband is sleeping with the nanny. When the train arrives at Selena’s station, the two women part ways, presumably never to meet again.

Then the nanny disappears.

As Selena is pulled into the mystery of what happened, and as the fractures in her marriage grow deeper, she begins to wonder, who was Martha really? But she is hardly prepared for what she’ll discover…

Don't miss The New Couple in 5B, Lisa Unger's newest psychological thriller about a couple that inherits an apartment with a truly chilling past.

The characters were so interesting and complex and the book had a good speed and build up. No dull moments.

I haven’t read a book in years, I couldn’t imagine a different book to ignite the want to read again. Hoping this gets others excited to engage with something other than these mind numbing apps everyone is sucked into.
  • A top rate mystery

Intriguing and twisty, this was a good book. The characters were well fleshed out and you felt like neighbors to the Murphy household. Especially like the many facets of Pearl. Many strong women and flawed men, but you cheered on the ladies. Highly recommend as a fan of Lisa Unger, will buy more of her titles. A cautionary tale for rich, cheating husbands.

This book has me from the first few pages. I have read many books but this one was hard to put down. I would think about getting back to it all day. Thank goodness for writers like Lisa Ubner. They take you to an escape like no other.

This book was so hard to read. Too many narratives. Hard to keep track of all the different characters, especially for the first 100 pages. Brutal.

Literally could not put it down Loved the way the chapters were set up and now—with the reference to The Hollows—can’t wait to read the next one
