The Veterinary Microscopic Anatomy Review series is a 21-volume set of interactive iBooks to allow a Q&A type review of microscopic anatomy structure and function. The histological sections are taken from multiple domestic species, including the canine, feline, bovine and equine.
In this unit of the series, sections from the central nervous system (cerebrum, cerebellum, medulla oblongata, spinal cord) and peripheral nervous system (peripheral nerves, sensory nerve endings and both sensory and autonomic ganglia) are examined to identify and review the function of the structures and cells of the nervous system. The cellular structures of the neuron are reviewed, and osmic acid stain is used to better appreciate the presence of myelin.
