ONE ISLAND

Beautiful, wild, and strange—Meroe Island is a desolate spot in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with a mysterious history of shipwrecks, cannibalism, and even rumors of murder. It’s the perfect destination for the most adventurous traveler to escape everything... except the truth.

SIX VISITORS

Six stunning twentysomethings are about to embark on a blissful, free-spirited journey—one filled with sun-drenched days and intoxicating nights. But as it becomes clear that the group is even more cut off from civilization than they initially thought, it starts to feel like the island itself is closing in, sending them on a dangerous spiral of discovery.

COUNTLESS SECRETS

When one person goes missing and another turns up dead, the remaining friends wonder what dark currents lie beneath this impenetrable paradise—and who else will be swept under its secluded chaos. With its island gothic sensibility, sexy suspense, and spine-tingling reimagining of an Agatha Christie classic, Reckless Girls will wreck you.

Didn’t think the ending would happen the way it did. I was captivated by the entire story and how they’d all deceived one another and how Lux got out and turned into Amma with the same tattoo IN THE AFTER

Living that 'island life' or trapped on a deadly tropical paradise? So, like you have a super hunky boyfriend who decides he wants to make some money by shuttling two rich, swanky girls to a remote and infamous island and you just lost your job-what else is there to do but tag along? You're super iffy about the girls, but decide to make the most of the excursion and heck- what could go wrong? You have enough food, you have an experienced sailor, this trip will give you BANK due to the generous offer of these lady strangers and you'll experience the gorgeous open water, beautiful clear skies and an exotic island. PSH- no brainer. You're going to go. 🏝🌊🕶🌞 Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins 3⭐️ I'm a self-diagnosed thriller snob so I am pretty picky. Super awesome island vibes (because, when you're stuck in frigid Upstate NY nothing seems better than to be lying nekked on a boat sunning yourself and swimming ALL. DAY- I'm right, fight me.) Flipping DRAMA. DRAMA. DRAMA. Hawkins gives us these characters that remind you why you like animals more than people. So sketch, so stupid, so reckless (ha ha)- can you trust ANYONE these days? Immersive past and present narrative that delves into their motivations and behaviors and what makes them tick. They're all turds, lets be honest but I typically don't need to bond with characters to enjoy thrillers. There were some events leading up to the ending that really set the reveal up to be unique and creative but I found that I was expecting so much more. It felt unfinished and a tad rushed- I had hoped for more loose-ends to be sorted out (DON'T COME AT ME BRO, I like my endings like I like my presents- TIED UP #sorrynotsorry). Definitely pick this one up if you're needing an escape from reality! End note- THAT COVER, THO! WOWZA Thanks to NG and the tagged for a copy in exchange for an honest review💓
