Wow!!! LOVE falling into a world Nina Lane creates!!!! The journey of watching Nell & Darius both heal and come back to life was amazing!!! I felt for both of them, and all they had endured throughout reading! But I did have a special spot for Nell and her growth & strength!!! There was angst galore, along with lots of touching and cute moments! This was beautifully written…my highlight finger was engaged throughout! I finally had to stop as I wanted to highlight so much! This story had a lot of pieces, and in the end it all fit together perfectly. I LOVE how it ended, and that their journey isn’t over!!! A few of my fav quotes: “No wonder his photographs are all so raw. He doesn’t just look at the world. He sees it.” Nell “That there’s a thin veil between this world and another world.” Fern “It’s not that I can’t see the little girl in her anymore. It’s that the little girl in her is gone.” Darius “Instead, I live with fear that I’ll slip through the world, through my own life, without having an impact on anything or anyone. That my fate is to be invisible.” Nell “I would crawl inside him and fold myself under his heart.” Nell “I didn’t know I could feel both strong and unbearably fragile.” Nell “A girl who should be soaring above everyone else, a bright, pretty sparrow against a crystal-blue sky.” Darius

I was a little apprehensive going into this book because I usually avoid father’s best friend stories. I’m glad I gave this book a chance. It is extremely well written. And I like how Nina handled the story. The first half is slow, but necessary. It did keep me reading. Both Nell and Darius struggle with their feelings and desires. I can’t wait to see how this story continues.
