Description

5 stars, Liz Konkel of Readers' Favorite: The story has an upbeat tone that is typical of the cozy genre though Winter adds a unique quality to it through the use of herbs. The characters are charming and help establish the endearing aesthetic of the town while also giving a long list of suspects. A delightful start to a new series, this book blends a cozy mystery with herbalism and second chances.

From Hollywood, California, to Heywood, Arizona, trouble follows her…

After her husband's brutal killing and her fall from the Hollywood elite, the disgraced Samantha Rathbone moves to Heywood hoping to forget her past and live a quiet life of anonymity as Sam Jones.

When she takes a job at the local herbal shop, Sage Advice, and the owner is found murdered, Sam is pushed back into the unwanted spotlight when she becomes the number one suspect. As she wades through  ugly family drama, the questionable business practices of others, and the lies embroiled in a small town, she searches for the true killer, hoping to save herself.

Will Samantha be able to find the murderer before she's put away for a crime she didn't commit?

A nicely written cozy mystery with characters you just hope didn’t do it. The only person who can find out who killed Bonnie is Sam, who has her own secrets.

Enjoyed the mountainous setting, emphasis on herbal knowledge. The village characters were interesting, and of course, at least one potential love interest in future episodes.

Good beginning to a new series. Fun, clean book with a touch of intrigue. Sam crashes her car while avoiding a deer on the way into Heywood. When Bonnie turns up dead, Sam isn’t sure who to trust. Bonnie’s “daughter” arrives the same day as her murder, so Sam puts her on the suspect list. Can Sam find the answers before she becomes a victim herself?. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I had a lot of fun reading this book. To meeting the new characters - to watching all of the threads come together. Carly did a fantastic job of introducing us to everyone and making sure as a reader, I could get a solid grasp on who they all were. This is not an easy thing to do in a book of this length. Another great one, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
