These days people everywhere, in all traditions, are using the Buddhist teachings to learn to meditate effectively, find peace, overcome stress, deal with anger, increase performance, and generally live happier and freer lives.

All the fundamentals of Buddhist meditation and philosophy are found here. Starting with an appreciation of our life and potential, we can gain a profound and practical understanding of our existential condition, and improve all good qualities of mind, including the supreme good heart of universal love and compassion. The explanation of the true nature of reality, ultimate truth emptiness, is very clear and powerful and, if practiced, will lead the reader to lasting mental freedom. A brief history of Kadampa Buddhism also shows how Buddha’s timeless teachings have traveled from teacher to student over thousands of years, and how people in the West are now applying what was once available only to mystics and monks—advice to solve our daily problems and accomplish the real meaning of our human life.

The author, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, has written 22 highly acclaimed books that transmit perfectly the ancient wisdom of Buddhism to our modern world. He has lived in the West for over 35 years and fully understands the problems of modern life and how to solve them.

Modern Buddhism: The Path of Compassion and Wisdom (presented in three e-book volumes) contains methods that can help everyone who wishes for inner peace and a positive mind, regardless of their background, culture and religion. It seems everyone has difficulty in finding peace these days. Our way of life is far busier and more stressful than ever before, more and more so year by year. We're subject to pressures that didn't exist in previous generations, which can leave us feeling hollow, empty and dissatisfied. Modern Buddhism explains how we can improve our inner qualities and find the peace and happiness we've always searched for. Through its timeless, practical meditations we can develop positive thoughts that will enrich our own lives and the lives of everyone around us. And by fully developing our compassion and wisdom, like the two wings of a bird, we can quickly reach the enlightened world of a Buddha.

Modern Buddhism – Volume 1 Sutra focuses on basic Buddhist teachings and meditations
Modern Buddhism – Volume 2 Tantra focuses on the more advanced practices of Buddhist Tantra.
Modern Buddhism – Volume 3 Prayers for Daily Practice is a companion to Buddhist teachings on Sutra and Tantra.

This book and tis whole series do a pretty good job at describing a certain sect of Buddhism. They are well written, but miss the mark in several places. They seem to teach the views of the author and do not put to much emphasis on the teachings of Buddha(sidhartha). They are good but if you are looking for the classical teachings of Buddha that I expected.
  • Tantra has been misunderstood and mis-taught, but not here. Genuine love is taught here.

A deeply beautiful book about genuine love, compassion and wisdom. This is a counter point to another review who's information is incorrect. Buddha certainly taught Tantra, thank goodness, because the fully enlightened state is not possible without it – not in a thousand lifetimes. However the person is *absolutely 100 percent* correct in that Buddhism (including Tibetan Buddhism) has absolutely nothing to do with sexual practices. Tantra is the most precious gift we received from the Buddha and this persons limited knowledge is misleading. Please enjoy this beautiful text which is entirely founded upon profound universal love. Tantra has been misunderstood and mis-taught, but not here.
  • Tantrism is NOT Buddhism

Tantrism has essentially nothing to do with Buddhism, only Tibetan Buddhists claim otherwise. Tantrism comes from Hinduism and has practices which are completely against Buddha's teachings. Buddha never taught sexual practices to the disciples.
