If you've ever lived in Northern California and were curious about what life was like 100 + years ago this is the book to read. Whip out the mapping app or a real map also ...check out the places mentioned. See how they've changed or not. And have fun! But, be prepared to read about overt jealousy and racism....it's what happened back then...accept it has history and hope it stays in history.

Nice read. Never heard of it before. Many details missed in editing. None that detract from the story, though.

I wanted this book to go on forever! Why did it have to end so soon?

Very interesting book from a great author, highly recommended. I like this book so much for this reason that its deferent from other books that he wrote and it can give you a very clear vision of how far you can achieve by keeping your heart on a real track and don't give up, no matter how hard your life can be.
