Description

It was a "million-dollar bullet," a sniper shot delivered from over a mile away. Its victim was no ordinary mark: he was a United States citizen, targeted by the United States government, and assassinated in the Bahamas.
The nation's most renowned investigator and forensics expert, Lincoln Rhyme, is drafted to investigate. While his partner, Amelia Sachs, traces the victim's steps in Manhattan, Rhyme leaves the city to pursue the sniper himself. As details of the case start to emerge, the pair discovers that not all is what it seems.
When a deadly, knife-wielding assassin begins systematically eliminating all evidence--including the witnesses--Lincoln's investigation turns into a chilling battle of wits against a cold-blooded killer.

Love this series...this is the first disappointment. Agree that I could not get interested in characters or story line. Did not finish.

Hate to say it because I love the Lincoln Rhyme series, but this was a disappointment. Glad it wasn't the first one I read, because I wouldn't have read another one. I couldn't get invested in the characters or plot. But his other books are so good, I will read the next one too!
  • Plodding recap of past novels

Perhaps my hopes were too high. I was looking forward to this newest installment anticipating new information and further character development and it had neither. It was a pleasurable recap of past books with no new twists.
  • An Average Work

While I would give many of Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme books five stars, this one was a solid three for me. It had a few more twists than usual, but the clues were often easier to spot than in some of the other books in the series. The ending was a little weaker than I had hoped for, and an extreme overuse of the word "datamine" really got on my nerves. I've come to expect better from the author, and hope the next book in the series will step the game back up a level.

boysmumas The best of Lincoln Rhyme. This novel was a 10+. The twists and turns were hard to keep up and more difficult to figure out. First I would think "this is it", then another plot twist. What a roller coaster ride all the way to the ending. Jeffery Deaver has outdone all other novels, this is the best of Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs.
