Description

Wolfsong is the beginning of the Green Creek Series, the beloved fantasy romance sensation by New York Times bestselling author TJ Klune, about love, loyalty, betrayal, and family.

“Wolfsong is so well written that I'm in awe of TJ Klune's talent.” —Charlaine Harris

The Bennett family has a secret: They're not just a family, they're a pack. Wolfsong is Ox Matheson's story.

Oxnard Matheson was twelve when his father taught him a lesson: Ox wasn’t worth anything and people would never understand him. Then his father left.

Ox was sixteen when the energetic Bennett family moved in next door, harboring a secret that would change him forever. The Bennetts are shapeshifters. They can transform into wolves at will. Drawn to their magic, loyalty, and enduring friendships, Ox feels a gulf between this extraordinary new world and the quiet life he’s known, but he finds an ally in Joe, the youngest Bennett boy.

Ox was twenty-three when murder came to town and tore a hole in his heart. Violence flared, tragedy split the pack, and Joe left town, leaving Ox behind. Three years later, the boy is back. Except now he’s a man – charming, handsome, but haunted – and Ox can no longer ignore the song that howls between them.

The Green Creek Series is for adult readers.

As soon as I was introduced to the love interest, I couldn’t continue. The age difference stopped me from reading the book.

“Wolfsong” is, without a doubt, the best werewolf fantasy romance I’ve ever read. It’s got everything you could want in a werewolf romance—an immersive world, intense pack dynamics, and a love story that will sweep you off your feet. But what sets this book apart is how masterfully T.J. Klune weaves themes of loss, grief, betrayal, and life into the narrative, creating an emotional depth that is rarely seen in the genre. Every page resonates with raw, heartfelt emotion, and you’ll find yourself deeply invested in the characters and their journey. It’s not just a story about werewolves; it’s a profound exploration of what it means to love and live after devastating loss. If you’re a fan of werewolf romance with substance, “Wolfsong” is an absolute must-read.

There’s a considerable difference in age between the main character and their love interest. The main character (16) meets their love interest when they’re 10 years old. I wanted to keep reading but at the same time it just feels weird.

Honestly I don’t know where to begin. I’d had this series described to me as “A big gay hug” and didn’t quite know what that would entail but retrospectively it makes sense. It’s about love, and chosen family, the trials of life, and werewolves… Wolfsong is the weakest of the four books with a bit of repetitiveness and a somewhat awkward relationship dynamic in the first quarter. But it grows into its narrative by the midway point and I honestly couldn’t put it down. I implore anyone who will listen to start this series and continue through it to the end.
