Description

Love dark, epic fantasy like A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin? You'll love Song of Dragons, a new fantasy series about blood, steel, and dragonfire.

BOOK ONE: BLOOD OF REQUIEM

Long ago stood the kingdom of Requiem, a land of men who could grow wings and scales, breathe fire, and take flight as dragons. Requiem ruled the sky.

But Dies Irae, a tyrant leading an army of griffins, hunted Requiem's people, burned their forests, and shattered their temples. Requiem fell. This ancient land now lies in ruin, its halls crumbled, its cries silenced, its skeletons littering the burned earth.

In the wilderness, a scattering of survivors lives in hiding. The griffins still hunt them, and every day promises death. Will Requiem's last children perish in exile... or once more become dragons and fly to war?

  • Disgusting, Sick-minded

Shame on the author who glorifies rape, as this one does. I’ll never pick up another and warn all I know against such perversion.

This is one of the cleverest books I have ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of books. I love the story telling, and the emotional efforts put into this piece of writing. I am excited to read the next books in the series. This is a very underrated book, the author deserves way more attention for these works of story telling -soaringthroughthesky

I liked this book and it really caught my attention. However, while it didn’t (technically) have any sex scenes in it, it hinted upon them having happened and touched upon subjects such as rape enough that it ruined it for me. I will not be continuing with this series despite its alluring fantastical scenes of dragons and magic. Rape, and important topics like it, should be talked about with an eye towards resolutions and support for those affected but this type of book is not the place for that. I think that it will be found that in this context and the manner used by the author to discuss it will actually only contribute to the problem rather than to its solution. I hate to leave a harsh critique but that is my opinion.
  • Great Idea...Not So Great Writing

I really loved the premise of the story, coming down from the high of finally finishing GOT (or what’s available of the series) I wasn’t ready to let go of dragons just yet so when I came across this story that had dragons AND griffins (another mythical love of mine) I was sold. I bought the entire series for just 99 cents and quickly realized why the books were so cheap. The writing is very weak, elementary at best. And it is not very concise. Thick plot points are whittled down to mere paragraphs, the dialogue is childish and flat and there is no character development. Saying someone is evil over and over doesn’t make them evil. Saying someone is beautiful and slender over and over doesn’t make them so. The writing was not *terrible* but I felt like it was definitely lacking. There needed to be more meat to the story, it felt like the author wrote with a bullet list of things that needed to happen instead of writing a well crafted story that flowed together. It was broken into chapters that jerked you around in time and location but for no clear reason. With a better editor, this could have been so much more. I felt disappointed in the end and will not be finishing the series. All in all, reading this book was like sitting down to have a steak dinner and being served from the kiddie menu instead. Truly a disappointment and waste of a good plot.

Too much blood, killing of children and sorrow. Didn't feel good after reading book. At some point, good must prevail but this book was a downer. Glad I got it free on ebooks. Will not be buying the sequels.

Book is written in a very low reading skill level. Situations described in the book don't make sense. The antagonist supposedly wears boots make from the scales of dragon children, but when these dragons die, they return to human form, so where does this dragon skin come from? The dragons ALWAYS lose the fight, even though they are the heroes of the story. One part of the story requires the characters to spend weeks traveling somewhere, but a few chapters later it only takes them hours to move the same distance. There is no continuity, the writing is childish and it's a shame because I thought the overall idea was good.
