Description

A chilly breeze...and another dead body.

Raina Sun thought cleaning her grandma's house in San Francisco to prepare for Chinese New Year would be a breeze. Instead, she finds her deceased grandfather's secret journal and ends up French kissing the train tracks in a mugging incident.

After putting the move on her grandma, her grandfather's BFF took an elevator ride straight to the Heavenly Gates. And the second time Raina ends up flat on her back without a man in sight, she suspects the Year of the Monkey would leave her skulking in cold damp places where family secrets are better off dying with the dead.

This was a very interesting read. An amateur sleuth gets herself involved with murder and gangsters. I loved how this story evolved and the characters are very real.

I enjoyed the zany antics of Po Po and the attempts by Raina, her granddaughter, to keep her in line. The storyline was a continuation of Raina’s investigation into her grandfather’s secret wife and son left in China decades ago. I hope the next book finally solves the mystery so Raina can focus on what she wants and go forward with her life.

Light hearted but enough intrigue to keep reading without putting it down. Loved the historical background. I find different cultures fascinating. So alike yet so different. Mickey

The story is good. A glimpse of Raina’s life in San Francisco in the family home. But I felt like the story was too short.

All the Raina Sun books are wonderful. If you have just discovered, the three book set is a great value, and a great way to catch up.

I loved the story line. The book included several typos. I didn't quite understand parts of the ending.
