An uniquely different, unpredictable plot weaving together romance, intrigue and mystery from the past and present effortlessly. This is the third book in the Lightning Strikes series but can be read as a stand alone. Exciting read!!!! Thank you to the author for this eBook. My opinion is my own.

Absolutely loved this story, about Dani and Patrick and their quest to finally figure out what happened to her dad and his mom. A fun and fast paced read, with interesting turns along the way. I highly recommend! And while it is great reading all three together, it’s a good standalone book :)
  • Fabulous book, marvelous series

What a wonderful ending to a great series. This book has it all-mystery, intrigue, romance, passion, just the right amount of heat, family ties, Texas, Washington DC, good politicians, bad politicians and so much more. Although there was so much packed into the book, I never felt like it was rushed or unbelievable. Patrick and Dani were such a charming couple. Although Dani tried to resist Patrick's charm, it just wasn't possible. Together they made such a fabulous team. Although I wanted the mystery to be solved, I wanted Patrick and Dani's story to continue. It was that good! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I would have read it anyways!

  • Perfect wrap up to the trilogy

Barbara finished up this trilogy perfectly! In the first two books, we met the family of a pilot that supposedly dies in a plane crash over water. We discovered some of the major twists in the story involving the complicity of his friends & a major company. This story wraps up all of the loose ends & gives us the story of Dani. Dani aspires to have a political career. She doesn't want to believe in lightening or the magical ways of her grandmother who insists Dani will find the final piece of the mystery. Dani meets Patrick at a park dedication & discovers his mother died in a plane crash similar to her dads. In helping Patrick search for answers, Dani's life is put in danger & her political career hangs in the balance. It amazes me that Barbara can write such perfect suspense stories as easily as she writes contemporary romances. She brings the same dedication to her writing style, descriptive narrative & well developed characters to both genres. Her suspense novels twist & turn & keep you enthralled from the beginning to the end. I do feel you need to read the first two books in the series before you read this book or you miss a tremendous amount of the back story & would be lost in some scenes.

Danielle Monroe takes a job in DC but was not as consumed with investigating her father's death as were her sister Alicia and brother Jake. Patrick Kane has a similar tragedy in his past that leads to questioning the Senator that Dani is working for. AS an investigative writer, Patrick is following leads as they fight their attraction for each other. Dani and Patrick are a dynamic team that spark ideas from eah other. They continue to investigate the two plane crashes and begin asking pointed questions that lead them into some dangerous situations. The mystery unravels and the suspense builds throughout this book, bringing a satisfying conclusion to this three book series. I can always count on Ms. Freethy to tell a fascinating romantic suspesne that keeps me interested and entertained.

This was a wonderful finale to the Lightning Strikes trilogy. I enjoyed it from the first paragraph to the end. I had a hard time putting it down. The suspense had me fighting myself to keep from jumping to the end to see who was responsible. I also liked the way Barbara included the Mayan culture into the series. I'm looking forward to her next book!

Summer Rain is the last book in the Lightning Strikes Series. I have read the first 2 books and I find it is like going back home to see what happens next to all the characters you have come to know and love from the previous books. Dani and Patrick were great together. The answers were all woven together very well. It was a very fast read - keep you interested and want to keep reading till the end.

I absolutely loved this book. I had been looking forward to this book and I was well worth the wait. Barbara Freethy never disappoints. The suspense and the romance of this novel is amazing. This is such a page turner, once you start it you cannot put it down. My advice is don't start the book in the evening unless you want to be up all night reading it. I am saddened that this is the end of the series. This series leaves you wanting more and more and Barbara Freethy is the the only one that can deliver. I always look forward to books by this author as she is top notch and will always be one of my favorites. Thanks Barbara for yet another awesome read. I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.

This is the last part in a trilogy and it finished up the Lightning Series incredibly. Dani has never believed in the lightning or the ways of her great-grandmother Mamich but after meeting Patrick and the circumstances of this meeting that allow Dani to start questioning her current thinking. Dani doesn't want anything to do with Patrick but he follows her to Washington D.C. and his persistence pays off when they both realize the many things in common with the death of a respective parent, along with the realization that they work better as a team. As Dani realizes, Mamich was correct when she indicated she was the final piece in completing the story that began with their father's death and furthered by her sister Alicia and brother Jake. The suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat and the subtle romance throughout is fantastic. I absolutely adored this ending, it wrapped up all of the pieces and the bad guys are taken down in the end. I received an ARC and I would highly recommend Summer Rain, while it is a stand-alone, I would recommend reading the first two books as I really think they are necessary to understand the full story.
