This book was the perfect finale to the series as the players have come full circle, and because I have loved all of the characters and setting but I think I see a hint of at least one more book coming. It was an amazing mix of characters from past Kait Nolan series and this one (for fans), although this book can definitely be read as a standalone. Hamish and Afton had an old unrequited love when she was a runaway bride (and he was married with a child) until she returns a few years later to find him divorced, moved back home and in need of a temporary nanny. Enter his daughter Freya who is an amazing character playing "parent trap" looking to fix them up and develops a warm loving relationship with Afton. The book was well written with witty banter, heart, steam and all of the feels. I laughed, had "eye leaks" and couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next one - Enjoy! I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Single dad in a kilt I told myself I’d read for half hour before bed and the next thing I knew it was 1:30 am and I was finished with the book. I loved this series and this book brings it full circle back to the beginning. I enjoyed the tie over of the misfit series. After everyone's Initial shock at seeing Afton their reactions were amazing.Hamish shows a different side of him and his daughter is adorable. With out the wedding pact interfering Afton and Hamish get a chance to see if they have what it takes be be a couple. It was wonderful to see Afton come home to see what her actions set in motion for all her friends. That what seamed like a selfish decision was actually the one everyone need. What a difference 2 years can make. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have.

Hamish and Afton have been childhood friends but due to a 300 year old marriage pact between Afton’s family and another family, they haven’t been free to pursue each other. Through a series of events and nearly a year and a half after Afton makes the nuclear choice to run away from a marriage to someone she didn’t love, she is back and Hamish is also single. Their trials and tribulations don’t end there! And they have to learn to trust each other. Finally we get Hamish and Afton’s story! This is a standalone with an HEA but if you’ve read others in the series you’d see my excitement about this one. Loved loved loved it but now I have to wait for the new spin off!! Fantastic storyline and writing from Kait Nolan! Her characters are complex and real, the challenges are understandable and relatable. She develops the characters where you understand them and their choices and struggles! And you definitely feel the emotions!! A MUST READ.

Single Dad in a Kilt is book 5 and the final book in the Kilted Hearts series by Kait Nolan. Up last is Afton Lennox and Hamish Colquhoun who we saw in the first book…and what a great ending to this series! Afton returns to Scotland after she disappeared almost to years ago to she Connor and Sophie get married. Lots has happened while she has been gone…but her secret love for Hamish has not disappeared as she thought. This story ties up loose ends, seeking redemption, romance for the ages and certainly was not disappointed! It also gives you a sneak peek of the new series in the future… I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the story I’ve been waiting for! Since the beginning of the series, Hamish was the man I was most intrigued with. In love with his friend, who was engaged through a marriage pact with Hamish’s best mate…and Hamish being married himself…is what romance books are made of. And meeting both he and Afton in the prequel, but waiting through 4 additional books Has. Been. Agony, lol. While I’ve adored all the previous HEAs, friends to lovers has always been my favorite trope, and before all else, Afton and Hamish are friends first. So when she comes back to their hometown of Glenaig, right after Hamish and daughter, Freya, have returned, it’s kismet. And of course, Freta needs a nanny…yet another favorite trope. It’s like Kait Nolan looked at my virtual library shelf and wrote this book just for me. I didn’t just love Afton and Hamish. I was tickled with her relationship with young Freya as well. Not to mention how seamlessly Afton has been welcomed back, despite the jilting. Because everyone is with who they should be with. And that is what makes not only the “Kilt” series a winner, but every series that is born from the pen of Ms. Nolan. Having read them all, I think I know what I’m taking about. Hamish and Afton win best couple and best romance with Single Dad in a Kilt,
  • Finally! Afton and Hamish's story.

Afton and Hamish finally have their story told, which is a wonderful way to tie up this series that began with them. With Hamish divorced and finally free, and Afton liberated from the antiquated Marriage Pact, they get their chance to try to work toward a life together. The only complication for them is Hamish’s twelve-year-old daughter Freya. Will Hamish allow them to form a romantic relationship, or will he focus on protecting Freya and put up walls to keep Afton at arm’s length? For the last year and a half, since she purposefully gambled away her estate in Scotland to Texas cowboy, Raleigh, Afton Lennox has formed a life in Tennessee. When she learns that Connor, the man she pledged to marry due to a 300-year-old Marriage Pact, is marrying her friend Sophie, she’s determined to attend the wedding. She has no idea what’s happened in Glenlaig, or how she’ll be greeted. Still, she’s resolute that she must attend. What she finds will have an impact on her life. The author has beautifully incorporated characters from both Scotland and Tennessee. She’s also created a realistic romance; it’s not all smooth sailing. As Afton attempts to find a new place in her old home town, we see just how well everyone fits together. It was a delight to see how all those Afton left behind come together to help and support her as she forms that new life. As in earlier books, the characters are wonderful. In this volume, I especially liked Freya and the goats. You'll have to read this to find out just what that means. Be prepared, for Afton has some new talents and skills. She breathtaking in the kitchen. She’s also a wonder with Freya. While I’m sad to see this series come to an end, I’m delighted with how it ended. While this book can stand on its own, reading it will be much more meaningful if you’ve read the series from the beginning and understand all the relationships. The author does her best to provide most of the significant relationship details, but it’s not quite the same an seeing how each set of couples came together. This was a lovely read, and I highly recommend it. Kate Nolan never lets her readers down. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.

It was satisfying to finally read the full circle of the Kilt series, especially with the Misfit Inn crossover (squee!). Honestly I had a hard time being patient with the ego of Hamish - he’s not like anyone I’ve known in that it seems he feels he is responsible for everyone around him to a somewhat unhealthy extent. I definitely could relate to Afton’s response when she returns from Edinburgh (keeping this spoiler free!). But the end was great, and I’m so happy that Ewan’s friends are getting their own series! I received a free ARC copy of the book and am giving my honest review.

Every new Kait Nolan book is my new favorite! Single Dad in a Kilt is no different. I have looked forward to Hamish’s story almost as long as Afton and Hamish have waited to have a story, and let me just tell you, it did not disappoint! Perfect ending to such a great series!
