This is the next installment of Kai and Enzo’s story. If you didn’t read the first book then you can read it in this one as Part I. It picks up where part one left off and Kia was taken. You find out what happened to her and if she is reunited with Enzo. It is filled with emotional conversations and could contain trigger material for some readers. I’m not sure why I’m surprised at how cruel people can be to other people. For Enzo, Kai was just a means to and end. You think you know what he’s about but you can all see there are more than one game being played. I so want to see Kai win it. Take back what was taken from her just to throw it back in their faces.

Oh my sweet heaven! This is such a gripping, suspenseful book that I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait to see what happens next between Enzo and Kai! Enzo is the man who almost destroyed Kai, and she hates him for what he caused to be done to her! Unfortunately, Enzo was trying to save Kai’s life, albeit in a very cruel way. He hoped once she was released, she would run as far from Miami as possible. Instead, Kai hunts Enzo down with a plan of her own. Once she heals from her gross injuries and gains her strength back, Enzo once again puts Kai’s life in jeopardy in order to maintain control of his Maria-type empire. I need the next book pronto!!!

Ella Miles is a new-to-me author and I’m very happy to have found her work through the debut of the new Truth or Lies series. Going by how much I loved Taken by Lies, I have a feeling that this series will be one of my favorites of 2019. This book is a darker suspense with some romance elements. This is also a series about the organized crime/underground world so violence is a given. If you are sensitive to any triggers like violence/trafficking, you may wish to read with caution. But if darker reads are your thing, this book and upcoming series is a delightful treat. I cannot wait to see what happens next for Enzo and Kai and will be anxiously waiting for the next book of the series to launch!

This book was amazing!! I was enthralled the entire time. I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one day. I found myself fighting for them to admit they want each other and to live happily ever after...this has ups and downs and just when you think you’ve figured it out...you didn’t!! Can’t wait for the next book!!
