The girl who would change everything.
She hunted; I killed.
Granted it was only a spider, but it was a lifetime pact.
She hunts for me.
I kill for her.
But nothing good lasts.
She hates me.
I loathe her.
Until I can barely recognize the friendship we once had.
The only thing we still share are the lies…

  • Not an easy read

If you’ve read the other books by this author, this is in the same vein — dark and twisty with characters that deal with more than most people should while they are still children. This is Langston and Liesel’s story. We’ve met both characters before and there has always been an underlying tension leading the reader to believe their is more to their story than we know. This is their backstory — how they meet as children, the friendship they developed and the vow they made. We are left with a cliff hanger but this sets the scene for a new storyline. This is a good place to jump into the series as this is a spin off. I warn you though that you’ll have to go back and read the other stories if you start here. The characters are dark and damaged and believable. The story is twisted and full of surprises that help explain the character’s attitudes and actions. This is a fast read and sets the scene for the series.

This is going to be another hit for this author. The characters are great and the storyline is well written and had turning the pages as fast as I could turn them. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a great introduction to Langston and Liesel’s story, guaranteed to have you hooked! Both of them had a hard childhood and despite the lies they share they are there for each other when matters the most. Although a short prologue, author already did a great job with characters. They are both strong and I can’t wait to find out more about them! This prologue sets the stage for storyline full of secrets and intrigue and I can’t wait to read the next book!
  • So many lies!

I was so glad that Langston and Liesel got their own story. After reading about them in the Truth or Lies and the Sinful Truths Series I wondered about their relationship. They met as children both from abusive and neglected households. After he learned he was moving, Langston had a misunderstanding with Liesel and cut all ties to her. He called her the Huntress and she called him Killer (because he killed a spider for her!) When they found each other in high school, he was indeed a killer. I can’t wait until the next book about them, Vicious Lies. If you haven’t read the previous series I mentioned, you definitely need to add them to your TBR. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • And Now It Begins …. just what game are Langston and Liesel playing?

Langston’s first ki11 with Liesel was a spider. At five years old they learned that she can hunt and he can ki11. A vow was made, the pact formed. Whoever breaks it, owes a favor. It was a pinky promise …. unbreakable. Just what was that vow…. and which one breaks it? Which one calls in the favor? Who really benefits? This is the background to how Langston and Liesel’s lives became intertwined. They had rough, painful and sad childhoods. But the unthinkable happens and they turn on each other…. but don’t forget about that vow, that pinky promise … it will be cashed in one day. This is the start of Langston and Liesel. If the rest of the series is as compelling as this prologue, then it will be well worth the read. Can’t wait. 👁 OBSERVATIONS: … Calling in that vow actually served it purpose for both Langston and Liesel. Dear ol’ daddy was way to arrogant to realize he would one day account for his sins. … Cynthia was far from innocent when it came to Langston’s mom’s demise. She had to know. She, as well as the dad, needed to suffer the consequences. She needs a BIG comeuppance. Monstermom needs to meet and face a real monster. … I did keep wondering how on earth a penniless drunk like Langton’s dad could even meet a rich, entitled woman like Cynthia? Her place in society meant the world to her, so why would she take a second look at that poor, slob of a father? … Does Langston ever find out what happened that day Liesel was gone when he woke up? … At the end of the Truth of Lies series, we are left questioning Langston. Was he really a betrayer? I’m counting on this new series to fill in a lot of those questionable gaps concerning Langston’s role. I have a hard time picturing him turning against Kai, Enzo and Jake. And how does Liesel fit into all this? Just what game is are they playing? Anxious for answers.

I’ve been waiting to read Langston and Liesel’s story since I met them in The Truth or Lies Series. Loved getting to know Langston and Liesel when they were kids. Their upbringing broke my heart. Hope they find their happiness in Vicious Lies.
