Description

From Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling Author M. Robinson. A coming of age, enemies to lovers, contemporary romance filled with angst and all the feels.

I couldn't remember a time before her... Harley Jameson.

Before she owned me.
Hated me.
Needed me.

Before I hated her...

Things were simple.
We had an understanding.

Bully. Fight. Hate. It's what we did.

Mind. Body. Soul. It's how we loved.

I thought nothing would ever change that, until everything did.

She was mine.
Always had been.
Always would be.
Nothing altered that.

Not how much I hated her.
Not how much she hated me.

Especially, not how much I hated...

That I LOVED her.

Hated You Then by M. Robinson is the first book in her Love Hurts duet. A story of a young boy and girl whose lives have been intertwined since birth - who have consistently and constantly clashed against each other at almost every turn. With a few respites in the process when tragedy strikes, but the bond that has grown between these two is strong despite their surface animosity. They both hate each other so much but it is such a fine line with them between that hate, that denial and the love you can see between the lines. Ending in a cliffhanger and told in dual POV this book was a little painful and a little sad. Being the first book, we don't yet get their happily ever after and I felt a tad emotionally drained after reading this. I will definitely be reading book two, Love You Now, due out November 12, 2019. Enjoy!

I couldn’t put this enemies to lovers book down! Harley and Jackson walked right into my heart and haven’t let it go since!!!! Hated You Then is a brilliant blend of enemies to lovers romance, along with the coming of age story of Harley and Jackson. To say these two hated each other is putting it mildly. They were constantly finding ways to torture each other as children and driving their mothers to their wits’ end. As time passes, those feelings somehow shift to something more. They aren’t quite sure how to deal with it, even though their parents seemed to know the affection they had for each other. I guess the saying is true, “There is a fine line between love and hate.” Both Jackson and Harley are strong, independently-minded characters. That was evident from the very first pages of this book! I laughed so hard at the things they did to one another as children. Both were so precocious as well! As the years passed, the two somehow always had each other’s backs despite their confusing feelings for one another. I really loved how Robinson wrote this book. It started with a bang in the present, but then, she went back into the past to the beginnings of the relationship between the two. She didn’t rush it. She took her time, allowing her readers to fall in love with the story and the characters. This does end in a cliffhanger, but that’s okay because this story didn’t need to be rushed. It has all the feels…laughter, swoons, and sadness. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel.

Angst-filled, prank overload, fabulous love-hate drama. Harley and Jackson took me on an intense journey. These two have been at each other from birth essentially. The need to be better than the other is all-consuming to them. Harley isn’t afraid to take Jackson down a peg and boy, has she mastered kicking a boy where it hurts. Jackson loves to dare Harley to do anything which has led to many mishaps along the way. But underneath all of this chaos, we get to experience all the drama happening in Jackson’s life as his family implodes. For all his bravado, he has been dealing with intense loss. The one person that seems to get him during this time is Harley. Is there a chance that these two really love each other under all the hatred? I went through every emotion with these two amazing characters. Jackson’s pain is off-the-charts but it was so wonderful to finally get inside his head to understand all the lashing out he does. Harley is a tough chick, she is Creed’s daughter, and she embraces this attitude. Yes, this ends on a cliff hanger and I’m anxiously awaiting part 2 to see how their crazy story ends. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Jackson is here and he better watch out for Daddy Creed!! This is part one of the love hurts duet. Harley Jameson and Jackson Pierce have grown up together hating one another, but don’t you pick on the ones you love the most? As always we get the full back story of young Harley (age 6) and Jackson (age 7) until they are teenagers letting you really understand their hate/love relationship. Oh and of course cameos from Creed and the other amazing characters! That’s really all I can say other than you don’t want to miss this book!! Maybe have some tissues ready because you might need them. This has you feeling everything from the funny moments to the emotional ones and everything in between. Told in dual POV and ends in a cliffhanger so get ready for more.
